Telehealth

Providing Therapy regardless of distance

In response to recent world events, telehealth has become the go-to avenue for many people to receive the mental health services they desire. The therapy session process remains the same despite you not being in the same room as the therapist.

We are happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about telehealth. Although we prefer in-person therapy session, if you decide telehealth is right for you, an encrypted video link will be provided when it’s time to join your session. It is important that you are aware of the potential benefits and drawbacks of using telehelth services. Outlined below, they are repeated in your intake paperwork.

What are the benefits of using telehealth?

With its ease of use, many services once only available in person are now accessible virtually. Some other benefits include:

  • It provides access to care wherever you are.

  • You can be sure to have continuity of care, meeting with your same provider.

  • There may be more convenient session times available to work with your schedule.

  • Uses a safe, secure and an easy-to-use platform accessible from your personal computer, mobile phone or tablet.

What are the Drawbacks of using telehealth?

Some drawbacks to telehealth are similar to therapy in general. You can view those over on the FAQ. Some drawbacks or risk for participation in telehealth therapy include:

  • Technology interruptions. You and your therapist will have a plan in place if this happens.

  • Other person interruptions. Even best laid plans of privacy can be interrupted so when the session is accidentally interrupted it can be difficult to get back on track.

  • Not guaranteed to be covered by insurance.

  • Loss of the in-person benefits of therapy. When in person for sessions, individuals often share that they feel more safe and comfortable to talk freely.
