Simply put, each of us experience low levels of anxiety on a daily basis. Traffic jams, extra workloads, arguments with friends. This is a normal response to a short term event. When intense feelings of anxiety become chronic it can lead to people feeling lost, isolated, overwhelmed, or immobilized. Sometimes chronic intense anxiety to lead to depression or hopelessness.

And now anxiety is becoming normalized based merely on its prevalence in conversation, Hollywood portrayals, and social media. Even the frequency you experience and discuss stress or anxiety makes it seem more normal. In fact according to the Anxiety & Depression Association of America over 40 million US adults have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. Just over 30% of those persons experiencing symptoms of anxiety disorder seek treatment despite it’s effectiveness in reducing symptoms.

Why do I need therapy to help my anxiety?

Most likely you’ve tried numerous strategies already in attempts to reduce your anxiety symptoms and improve your life. Maybe you tried yoga or meditation. Maybe you’ve read a few self-help books. Maybe you’ve created a sleep routine or started medication. Yet nothing seems to work completely.

Therapy is the compliment to these other strategies. We can help you through individual therapy or a specific group designed to teach skills to young adults with social anxiety.
