Sex + Porn + Love Addiction

Reclaim your sexual wellness

Many people ask if sex, love or porn is actually an addiction; our response is always the same. YES! Research shows that the parts of the brain triggered by drugs, alcohol, gambling or other addictions are the same as those triggered by sex, love or porn addiction. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Compulsive Sexual behavior disorder is “persistent pattern of failure to control intense, repetitive sexual impulses or urges resulting in repetitive sexual behaviour.” If you are seeking help you may be ready to take the first step and break through the denial that there is problem behavior.

Focused treatment

Treatment is focused on recovery and the achievement of sexual health. Central to treatment is understanding your cycle of the addiction, including: the development, ritualization, acting out of the compulsive behavior, and shame/guilt inevitably followed by a build up of unmanageable thoughts and feelings.

Recovery is possible and predicated on the development of healthy sexual practices consistent with your personal values.

Assessments + Treatment Planning

During your initial sessions you’ll be asked to describe why you are seeking therapy. You’ll also be asked to participate in an assessment process that includes a comprehensive sexual history using assessment tools exclusive to CSAT trained therapist. Because you’ve decided that it’s time to stop hiding in the shadows of your behaviors or shame, completing these specialized assessments are essential. Your CSAT therapist will review the results and share with you at your next scheduled appointment. You can be sure that your therapist will be attentive to your confidentiality and comfort level as you progress through the assessment process.

Recommendations for individual therapy or the specific group (Recovery Zone) will be based upon the results of the assessments.
